According to an Associated Press article, Wine grapes are now San Luis Obispo County's top crop. on SFGate, SLO County is being recognized for the outstanding quality of grapes.

The article reports,

Wine grape earnings were $138 million, representing more than a quarter of the county's entire agricultural earnings.
The latest report shows wine grapes are grown on more than 27,600 acres with 21,614 of those bearing acres producing 104,107 tons last year. Wine grape earnings rose 31.4 percent last year due in large part to increases in acreage.
Cabernet sauvignon leads the San Luis Obispo County grape production, with 6,776 planted acres, 33,609 tons and a value of $43.8 million.

The breakdown looks like:

Top 5 Agricultural Revenue Generators in SLO County
1.Grape Vines$138.0 million
2.Cattle and Calf production$42.6 million
3.Broccoli$35.9 million
4.Head Lettuce$30.4 million
5.House Plants$27.2 million

If this trend continues and jobs increase down there, Kiara and I may move down there. San Luis Obispo is one of favorite places in terms of wine, climate, and location. When we were there this March, we looked at the jobs but there were virtually none.
