Removing Wine Labels
Some folks like to keep wine labels to remind them of a great bottle, a special moment, or to keep a record of the wines they've drunk.
Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher, authors of the Love by the Glass: Tasting Notes from a Marriage, started saving labels since 1978 and amassed a collection of 8,000.
In their July 5, 2002 Wall Street Journal article, "Tackling a Sticky Problem", they advise,
Almost 25 years of label removing experience telles us that the e
asiest labels to remove are from Burgundy and Germany and the hardest are from Australia. American labels run the gamut.
I'm curious what different types of adhesives are used in different countries. Next time I help on the bottling truck, I will ask.
