Teldeschi's Vines In Bloom

Close up of Teldeschi Zin in bloom Last weekend, Ray Teldeschi recommended driving up to see the vines in bloom. He mentioned, "In Dry Creek, everything is in full bloom around Memorial Day."

Around 5 pm, we pulled into Teldeschi Vineyard. We went to Home Ranch block and the Old Vine block. Home Ranch was fully in bloom. The blooming clusters on the vines smelled like violets and roses. The whole vineyard smelled like perfume. (Driving home with the windows down, the smell was overwhelmingly powerful near Ridge's Lytton Springs vineyard.)

I took a close up photo of a cluster in bloom. The green berries open up and a white pistil emerges. Smelling this part of the cluster is wonderful.

As the year progresses, I will add more photos and commentary. Stay tuned...
