Highlights from our Eno pouring at Pinot Days

The second annual Pinot Days was an amazing success. Similar to last year, the response to Eno Wines was incredible. It appeared that 2,000 people extraordinarily passionate about Pinot attended.

We enjoyed pouring:

  • 2004 Eno Pinot Noir "The Gifted One" (Fairview Road Ranch, Santa Lucia Highlands), 80 cases
  • 2005 barrel sample from the same vineyard.
The 2005 Pinot will be bottled in fall and available for sale at our holiday sale in December.

Here are some of the responses about the wines:

  • "Sasha's Fairview was really good, with a super spine of spice, good extraction, and excellent balance. Really good stuff!" Paul Homchick, writer and blogger for Sweet and Sour Spectator
  • "...[the] Eno Fairview Pinot
from SLH is really good...look for some as it is small production. I was standing next to Sasha's when Michael Browne was raving about it and claimed if blind he would have thought it was a KB (Kosta Browne) wine..." Tony Velebil, Marketing Manager at Kosta Browne Winery
  • ...I was quite busy and didn't get to taste many other wines...but the ones I did - AW 2005 Rosella's, KB 2005 Rosella's, 2004/2005 Native 9, Eno 2004 Fairview Ranch - were all incredible wines!" Andrew Vingiello, winemaker at AP VIN

Some highlights included:

  • Being interviewed by GrapeRadio. Had a great time chatting with Eric Anderson, Jay Selman, and Brian Clark over a nice bottle of 2004 Melville Pinot Noir Estate- Carrie's
  • Having Jeff Cohn, (former) winemaker for Rosenblum and now JC Cellars, as our special guest wearing an Eno name tag.
  • Having Michael Browne, winemaker from Kosta Browne and one of my winemaking heros, stop by. He liked the wines and said they remind him of his own wines. Considering his 2004 wines just got 93-98 pts from Wine Specator, I'm speechless.
  • And our custom crush client Eric Lundblad's Ladd Cellars Pinot Rose rose was killer. Christine Huang posted a note on Erobertparker saying "I LOVED it! Best CA rose I've ever had."

Once again the event was well organized by Steve and Lisa Rigisich. The free glass stemware was beautiful and appropriately a Burgundy shape. Being in the larger pavillion, Festival Pavillon, allowed more space to move around. The addition of speciality food purveyors and ample water helped people pace themselves.
