Holiday Sale This Weekend w/ Edmunds St. John and Harrington winerie

Happy Holidays! For the 3rd straight year, we are joining Edmunds St. John (a Rhone Master) and Harrington Wine (a Pinot specialist) for a Holiday Sale this Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 pm at the winery. We will be selling the "P05" Pinot Noir and the "S05" Syrah as well as some library wines and a couple of surprises.

2006 harvest update

The 2006 harvest is now underway and we're knee- and arms-deep in gooey grape goodness. We're too busy to provide much of an update, but plan on providing full disclosure of all our adventures once the craziness subsides. In the meantime, keep an eye on our Photos section as we'll be posting pictures we take along the way.

First Annual Ballard Canyon Connection report

Kiara and I celebrated our 4th anniversary with a trip to Santa Barbara wine country. We attended the First Annual Ballard Canyon Event. Starting around 10:30 am, we met in Los Olivos and jumped into vans. We visited four vineyards Tierra Alta, Purisima, Stolpman and Larner. Each vineyard tour was hosted by the respective vineyard manager: John Belfry of Buona Terra Farming, Jeff Newton of Coastal Vineyard Care Associates, Steve Beckmen, and Michael Larner. The tours were followed by lunch and tasting of wines made from those vineyards.

Visiting Fairview Road Ranch

Even though I talk to my grape growers every couple of weeks, nothing beats going to visit them and walk the vineyard. On our way down to Santa Barbara for our anniversary weekend, Kiara and I visited Kirk Williams at Fairview Road Ranch in Santa Lucia Highlands.

The second annual Pinot Days was an amazing success. Similar to last year, the response to Eno Wines was incredible. It appeared that 2,000 people extraordinarily passionate about Pinot attended.

Eno Wines. along with the 14 other East Bay wineries, were featured today in the weekly, East Bay Express. A little over a week ago, staff writer, Jonathan Kauffman, came to the winery to interview us. The issue has hit the local news stands.

Eno Tasting at Bernard Maybeck's "Chick House"

On June 10, 2006, Eno Wines had a special event at of wine, food, art and architecture at an historic Bernard Maybeck house in the beautiful Oakland hills. Foster Goldstrom opened up his beautiful home to wine collectors, writers & critics. For those that aren't familiar with Maybeck, he was an adviser of Julia Morgan, designed the Palace of Fine Arts, and is and one of the pioneer East Bay architects.

Rhone Varietal Focus course at UC Davis

On May 25th, UC Davis Extension program hosted its second annual Varietal Focus course, this time on Rhone Varietals. After last year's amazing Varietal Focus on Pinot, I couldn't miss this one. The seminar included the origins of the Rhone varieties; their role in the regional wines of the area; their history in both France and the new world; the importance, development and selection of clones; and the role of terroir in the performance of the vines.

A Great AIDS Ride Benefit at The Cheeseboard

On May 18th, Eno Wines and Harrington Wine participated in a fundraiser at the CheeseBar in Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto. The event included local California cheeses, homemade dessert, and live music from Brazilian guitarist Benito Taylor. All proceeds were donated to help support AIDS Lifecycle Ride.
