Casey Hartlip, the grower of Eaglepoint Ranch and someone I view as a dear friend, invited Kiara, Anya, and I to stay at his new house built on the ranch. Recently completed, we were amazed with the thoughtful details, the views, and the peace & quiet.

3Bottling 2006 Wines
On May 13, 2008, Bravo Bottling, a mobile bottling line from Dry Creek came to our winery in Berkeley. Parking a 48' Semi and setting up next to businesses and home is always a challenge. Fortunately, everything went real smoothly.

10Gary's New Vineyard
Gary Franscioni has planted a new, unnamed vineyard in southern Santa Lucia Highlands, between Doctor's Vineyard and Pisoni. This is extreme viticulture- the highest vineyard in SLH and has some amazing views of the Pinnacles and Chalone.

Thanks to our dear friend Virginia McArthur, Brian Eno, an inspiration source for our winery, came to visit Eno Wines in Berkeley for a wine tasting and lunch. Some folks from the Spore development team (Virginia the producer, Kent and Aaron, sound engineers from EA) as well as Will Wright, the founder and creator of Sim City and The Sims, and his girlfriend also came.

192007-0406 Bottling & Labeling 2005's
Eno Wines and Ladd Cellars hired Signature Bottling to bottle and label their 2005's. Parking a semi-truck in a residential area, using a rented forklift, and the city paving driveways provided many obstacles. That said, everything went smoothly.

21Harvest 2006- Pressing Teldeschi's Old Vine Zinfandel
Frank, Waheed, and Sasha pressed 1.25 tons of 120 year old zinfandel. For the third year straight, the must was extremely juicy and exploded everywhere. Regrettfully, it happened at 2 am.

23Harvest 2006- Picking up Eaglepoint Grenache
Kiara and Sasha drove up to Ukiarh to pick up 6 bins of Eaglepoint Grenache. The weather was volatile- from sunny blue skies to torrential rains. Fortunately, the grapes were picked before the rain (totaling 0.4).

36Rhone Varietal Focus course at UC Davis
On May 25th, UC Davis Extension program hosted its second annual Varietal Focus course, this time on Rhone Varietals. The seminar included the origins of the Rhone varieties; their role in the regional wines of the area; their history in both France and the new world; the importance, development and selection of clones; and the role of terroir in the performance of the vines.

43Harvest 2005: Zinfandel / Grenache / Viognier crush
On Oct. 16, 2005, Eno Wines crushed and pressed 150 lbs of Viognier, 2 barrels of Grenache and 3 barrels of Zinfandel. The day involved some foot-stomping, an overfilled barrel and a bursting press.

482005 Open House and Sale

49Eaglepoint Ranch Vineyard
Purchased by John Scharffenberger and his family in 1973 and planted to Syrah, Petite Sirah and Grenache among others, the site has become a favorite for many wineries, including Sean Thackrey, Copain Wine Cellars, Rosenblum Cellars and Navarro Vineyards. Eaglepoint vineyard manager is Casey Hartlip.
