Tasting Notes
This potent, brawny wine hails from a little town in Amador County famous for its Zinfandel. With hints of brambleberry and cherry flavor, it is nuanced with slight tannins. No wonder it is a Small Town Hero. Drink this now with a hearty steak or a zesty spaghetti plate. An excellent wine from a promising vineyard at a very reasonable price.

The Story Behind the Wine
Prior to bottling, a tasting panel helped name the wine. Each person jotted a few names on pieces of paper and threw in a jar. Once the name, "Small Town Hero" was read, the votes were unanimous. Hailing from a tiny town of 200, the wine has a heroic presence and distinctive character.

The Vineyard
This Zinfandel comes from the Damas Vineyard in Fiddletown. Planted with the Deaver clone, originally from a nearby vineyard, the vines love this warmer setting and distinctive volcanic soil. It also is across the street from a vineyard Ridge made famous in the 1970s. The Damas vineyard was named after its owners, Deborah And Mara And Scooter. They take exquisite care of the vineyard all year round.
