George and Pam York have established a Syrah vineyard with over 7 clones next door the Eschen Vineyard (one of the oldest) in Fiddletown. Planted on a steep granite slope, this is a perfect location for Syrah.

Aged for 15 months in American and French oak, this wine exhibits earthy tones with dark cherry, semi-sweet chocolate, and vanilla extract flavors.

  • "Dark purple in the glass this wine has a juicy nose of black plum and candied grape aromas. In the mouth it is surprisingly restrained given the fruit on the nose, with a lovely Northern Rhone minerality underscoring flavors of black cherry, and plum. Excellent acidity, a nice balance, and soft tannins make this a very easy drinking wine. Score: 9.5" (out of 10) Alder Yarrow, Vinography.com

  • The Story Behind the Wine

This was only the second harvest from the Casatierra Vineyard. Sitting high on a granite slope, it overlooks the 100+ year old vines from the Rinaldi vineyard and the old Fiddletown. This wine has wisdom and sophisticated beyond it?s years. It indeed is The Old Soul.

    Production: 70 cases
